We are strategically situated in the attractive, historic town of Towcester, Northamptonshire. Students come for training from a wide area across the Midlands, London, Home counties and overseas. They enjoy the well-equipped, tasteful interior and delightful atmosphere of the listed building in which the school is situated.
Watling Court is in the heart of the town on the Watling Street, adjoining the old Town Hall. Originally built as a school, Watling Court is constructed of local sandstone with many character features such as stone mullioned windows, gables, archways and beams. | |
We offer a variety of courses leading to ITEC (www.itecworld.co.uk) and CIBTAC (www.cibtac.co.uk) qualifications. These qualifications are not only well respected in the industry but also enable you to work worldwide.
We aim to keep our classes small, a maximum of 6 students, therefore you gain almost one to one tuition. All our courses cover the theory and practical element and include Business Studies, Professional Conduct, First Aid and Hygiene and Sterilisation.
There are courses available during the day, evening and weekend and that are full and part time.

Students must be 17 at the time of taking exams and there is no upper age limit. We have many students who are returning to study after having children or simply want a career change.
The beauty industry is a growth area, therefore there is always a demand for good therapists. Learning will not end on completion of a course as there are constant changes that you need to keep up with. The opportunities once qualified are endless, and are really down to the individual. | |

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Acceptance to enrol in any course at the School is at the sole discretion of the Principal. Preference is given to candidates with one of the following:
a) Passes at O’Level or GCSE
b) A good standard of education
ACCOMMODATION
Assistance is given to students seeking accommodation in the area.
PRACTICAL AND IN SALON EXPERIENCE
At a time during their course when they are confident and proficient, students work on client models of varying ages, skin and body types, so that they may gain work experience.
Students may be given the opportunity of obtaining further work experience in the Vanessa Horne Beauty Salon in Towcester.
REGULATIONS FOR BEAUTY THERAPY COURSES
TERMS OF ENROLMENT
All reservations and acceptances are made subject to the conditions of the Vanessa Horne School of Beauty Therapy, the school prospectus, and the terms set herein. Deposits for reservations of places are not returnable.
The school reserves the right to terminate the training of any student who fails to comply with School regulations, as detailed.
Tuition fees are not returnable under any circumstances.
The School reserves the right to change the syllabus as and when necessary to keep pace with any advance which may take place in the improvement of treatment techniques, new equipment, examination standards etc.
The parents or legal guardians of prospective students who are under eighteen years of age must accept legal responsibility for enrolment fees, general behaviour and discipline for that person as long as she is at the School. The signature of the parent or legal guardian is therefore required on the enrolment form.
A deposit of 15% is required to reserve a place at the school.
SCHOOL RULES AND REGULATIONS
- Clean white overall and clean white shoes are to be worn at all times during school hours (apart from Sports Massage and workshops)
- Hair must be tied back or worn in a short neat style.
- Nails are to be short for practical work.
- No jewellery to be worn.
- No smoking is allowed in nay of the school classrooms.
- Sweets and chewing gum will not be eaten during working hours.
- Students must be in the classroom before class time. Habitual latecomers will not be allowed into class and will be marked absent.
- Students are reminded that a minimum number of day’s tuition is required as a qualification to sit for the examinations and that attendance roles are inspected by the examiners.
- Students must inform the school if they are going to be absent – a telephone call should be made in cases of illness. More than four days absence requires a doctor’s certificate.
- Students leaving school without permission during working hours will be marked absent for that day.
- Punctuality, attendance, general behaviour and neatness of notebooks will be taken into consideration for the award of school assessment marks which are part of the general qualifications for the award of diplomas.
